Frequently asked questions

We are a subscription-based weekday meal delivery service, with a la carte options (including birthday parties packages).

Do I need a subscription to try your service?

No, you don’t. We recommend it because we think you’ll enjoy the peace of mind, but you can totally check out our a la carte options (click here)!

Do you have vegetarian option?

Yes! Every Tuesday of the week before, I’ll send a form with both Carnivore and Vegetarian menu options for you to choose from. A vegetarian alternative is always available.

When will the menus for the week be available online?

We update our website every Sunday with the menu for the following week.

How often will your weekday menus change?

Our menus change every week. Check them out here. And of course, we abide by what’s seasonal, so the weather also impacts those changes.

What makes your meals family-friendly?

We believe everyone in the family deserves to enjoy what’s on their plate. Our meals are healthy and nutritious - that’s a big part of how we want our family to be fed - but also full of colors and appealing shapes for all (think spinach hidden in a muffin…)

What types of foods do you offer a la carte?

We offer full meals and a variety of additional items (such as sweet breads and rolls). Dinners come to you fully prepared on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

How much notice do I need to provide when ordering a la carte items?

We deliver dinners Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cut-off for Tuesday delivery is 5pm on Sunday and cut-off for Thursday delivery is 5pm on Tuesday.

Where do you deliver?

We cook and deliver in Washington DC, and most of our clients live on Capitol Hill and Mount Pleasant. We are currently serving the 20001, 20002, 20003 and 20009, 20010, 20011 zip codes, but reach out if you are interested and are outside the delivery area!

When will my food be cooked and when will it arrive at my door?

We believe freshly cooked food tastes better. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we get busy in the morning and deliver the food to your door between 5pm and 6:30pm, sometimes earlier. The food arrives fully prepared and ready to be reheated and enjoyed with your people.

Do I have to be around when my food is delivered?

No. Our food is delivered in zipped insulated grocery bags with ice packs, to ensure your food stays fresh for hours. If you want us to leave your food in a specific location, let us know in the comment section as you place your order. And if you still need to contact us, go for it!

I am a subscriber and I love that you use reusable dishes and bags, but what should I do with them?

Easy as pie. Wash them in the sink or throw them in the dishwasher once you are done eating. Then place the dishes (along with the reusable icepack) in your insulated bag and leave the bag in front of your door on the day of your next delivery. We will pick it up the bag when we deliver your next meal. Of course, we will also rewash all dishes as they come back to our kitchen to ensure cleanliness.

Someone in my household has allergies - do you have dishes that are allergen-free?

We understand how challenging it can be for people with dietary restrictions to find convenient meal options. In the weekly form where you select vegetarian or carnivore options, we will indicate which of the 14 major allergens are present in the food.

We encourage you to inform us upfront about any allergies in your family. Due to the nature of our business, it can be difficult to fully accommodate all allergies, but we will do our best whenever possible. Please note that our facility regularly processes soy, peanuts, tree nuts, seafood, shellfish, eggs, and pork, so we do not recommend our service for those with severe allergies to these items.

How long can I keep leftovers from the dish? Can I freeze the dish?

Leftovers from dishes with protein, such as meat, poultry, fish, or eggs, can be kept in the refrigerator for 3–4 days and can be frozen for 2–6 months for best quality. Dishes without protein, like vegetables, grains, or pasta, can last 4–5 days in the fridge and 2–3 months in the freezer.

Can I modify, pause or cancel my subscription?

For sure! To make sure we can plan accordingly, you can modify or pause your subscription any time between Thursday 8pm -Sunday midnight for the following week.

Should you want to cancel it, we will be sad to see you go but we will reimburse you the prorated amount for the weeks remaining on your subscription. Please bring us back the containers, too, otherwise we will charge a fee of $30 for them. If possible, please send us a message to let us know of the reasons you want to make the change, we want to make sure we offer a great service and all feedback is welcome!
