our founder’s story

I was born and raised in the mountains of the Swiss-French border. It seems that most of my childhood memories revolve around food, from the warmth of the meals I shared with my family, the great jams my mother made with the wild berries we collected in the woods (best raspberries ever) and about welcoming new neighbors with home-made treats. Food is tradition.
I left the mountains for college and though I did earn academic knowledge, what I really learnt was that my favorite thing in the world was creating meals and opportunities for my friends to gather and spend quality time together. Food is loving. Food is friendships that have lasted for more than 20 years.
When I moved to Mexico after graduate school, I learned to appreciate a culture where food was as central as it has always been for me. I learned that there, on the other side of the ocean, too, you would sit at the table to enjoy food while talking about the delicious foods you had eaten in the past and the delicious places one should try in the future.
As a mother of two children (who are not picky eaters, but still children), I quickly realized that there was a lot I wanted to pass to them through my love of food and cooking, while also making sure they were eating healthy. One of my proudest mothering accomplishments was when my then 7-year-old son wrote an essay in class describing why he was special “I build robots and I eat cactus!”, he said.
I am determined to trying to make other children proudly eat cactus, without their caregivers getting exhausted in the process.
